Japanese video game and entertainment company Sega is buying Rubio Entertainment, the maker of the popular mobile game Angry Buddies franchise. It is said that its value can be around one billion dollars. According to The Wall Street Journal, Sega may buy Robio next week.
This game was launched in 2009 and ruled the mobile for five years. In the year 2014, this game reached its peak but after that its users gradually decreased. Angry Buddies game was the first such mobile game, which was downloaded by one billion users and the name of Angry Buddies game is registered in the Guinness World Records.
A movie was also made from this game and it also earned a lot of money. The sequel The Angry Budders Movie-2 was released in 2019 from this game, but it did not get much success. In February this year, Rubio removed his original Angry Buddies game from the Google Play Store. The company said, “We have reviewed the commercial case of Rubio Classics: Angry Buddies and due to the game’s impact on our extensive game portfolio, we have decided to remove it from the Play Store.”
Rubio Classics: Angry Buddies is unlisted but still playable on the device on which the game was downloaded. Before this, the Israeli developer Playtica said that it would acquire Rubio for about 800 million dollars, but the agreement could not be reached.
