China is constantly conducting unique experiments in the field of science and technology. Recently, Chinese scientists have prepared three super cows through cloning. These cows can give 100 tons or 283 thousand liters of milk in their lifetime. According to the local media, the breeding of three cows was done by the scientists of Northwest University. These calves were born in the last two months in Ningxia area. All these are clones of Holstein Friesian cows from the Netherlands.
What is cloning? Cloning is the process of making one organism from another in an asexual way. In simple terms, scientists take the DNA of an animal and use it to make a clone of the animal. Scientists change its genes according to their convenience to make animals more powerful than normal animals.
Project leader Jin Yaping said – first of all, we extracted cells (cells) from the ears of good breed cows. Then we prepared embryos from it and implanted them in 120 cows. 42 percent of these cows became pregnant. Currently, three super cows have been born, 17.5 percent cows may be born in the coming days.
According to scientists, a super cow can produce 18 tons (16.3 thousand liters) of milk in a year. This is 1.7 times more than the average American cow. Yaping says that China has a goal of producing 1,000 super cows in the next two to three years. This will benefit the dairy industry more. Currently, five out of every 10,000 cows in China can give 100 tons of milk in their lifetime. Apart from this, 70 percent of cows are imported into the country.
Last year, Chinese scientists created the arctic wolf through the world’s first cloning process. In 2017, China cloned a similar animal, which can overcome tuberculosis in animals. Many developed countries including America are working on this technology.
